At Alpiq, we have dedicated Business Development and Sales Optimization functions to support our colleagues who work with our customers at the front. These roles are absolutely critical for our success, ensuring the reliability and continuity of our daily operations, as well as the forward looking development of new capabilities. Within this organization for the DACH region, we are currently looking for a Senior Product and Sales Optimization Manager. This role is a great opportunity for an experienced energy professional, who is passionate about optimizing and developing capabilities at the crossroads between sales and operations. This job is to be based at Alpiq HQ in Olten and has the following profile.

Your main responsibilities

  • Analysing and understanding our existing backoffice IT setup to support our sales activities, e.g. setting up a customer portal solution with defined interfaces to all relevant internal systems that provide customer data
  • Making sure that requested adjustments will be implemented and fully understood by internal stakeholders within given project deadlines
  • Driving and pushing automatization processes and reducing manual workload within existing processes as best as possible
  • Understanding internal restrictions and trying to find cost efficient alternatives and improvements if needed
  • Collaborating with BD peers in the DACH region and beyond in order to set up universal and replicable standards and processes
  • Setting up project plans with detailed project overviews and deadlines which will create transparency and inform internal stakeholders about required support and achieved milestones
  • Following regulatory changes and anticipating their effect on existing processes

Your qualifications

  • Higher Degree, ideally with specialization in energy management
  • A minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience in the energy business with a focus on the Swiss market, thorough understanding of market mechanisms, logistics, processes , energy management data flows, etc.
  • Great cross-functional project management skills, continuous improvement mindset
  • Above the average analytical skills and ability to deal with high levels of complexity
  • Good IT understanding, preferably experienced with energy management IT tools, knowledgeable of end customer solutions
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, must speak fluent E & DE

Control Project scope and in conjunction with Proposals Team, prepare amendments and/or scope changes.  In conjunction with Sales/Commercial Development, provide input into mid-long term program strategies

Key requirements: 

Bachelors- or Master’s Degree with technical background (chemistry, biology, biotechnology or similar), PhD preferred
Previous work experience in Project Management – ideally in the pharmaceutical or CMO industry
Proven knowledge of technical, commercial and organizational issues that impact project strategy and planning
Successfully managed programs over several years in relevant business environment
Able to analyze and solve complex problems that do not have routine solutions

This is initially a contract for one year, with high chances for extension.


How your daily tasks will look like:

  • Support of the preparation of the consolidated project status reports
  • Management of project information to support project teams, management teams (e.g. project steering board, etc.) and decision making
  • Single point of control for project data, collected from functions (e.g. finance); owns version management and release of changes
  • Handling of Project- and Management meetings (organize project meetings, set agenda, edit and distribute minutes)
  • Guiding, management and tracking preparation for project milestone reviews
  • Creating and maintaining integrated project
  • resource- and budget plans
  • Tactical coordination of dependencies, timelines and budgets for all projects and functions 2/3
  • Definition and implementation of harmonized, measures and reports key performance indicators (KPIs) for the projects to enable teams and functions to measure and improve quality, efficiency and effectiveness
  • In the absence of the Project Leader, able to run project team meetings
  • Set-up and adapt relevant PMO processes and structure in alignment with the PMO Department and relevant stakeholders and ensure process implementation within Project Team
  • Management of external providers and tracking of project development activities

What the ideal candidate brings along:
  • Several years of project management experience preferably in medical devices in highly regulated industry, focusing on product development projects
  • Prior project management experience in Software environment would be a valuable asset
  • Completed studies in the field of engineering, natural sciences or comparable vocational training or further education
  • Project management certification (e.g. SCRUM, SAFe, IPMA, PMI, PRINCE2) is an advantage
  • Fluency in English is mandatory – spoken and written
  • Self-motivated and proactive project management skills
  • Strong organizational, methodological and communication skills
  • Ability to capture complex problems, analyze them and translate them into solutions
  • Autonomous, structured and goal-oriented working methods and a good team player
  • Self-leadership and self-reflection abilities
  • Interest in the diagnostics sector and products

Nice to Haves:
• Microsoft Office & MS Visio - MS Project. Planisware would be desirable - SAP ERP would be an additional asset
• Ability to promote ideas and to influence team
• Additional Language Spanish or German is desirable
